Nigeria, in West Africa, is the most populous country in Africa. One major distributor there wrote: “People are coming every day to request World Missionary Press booklets. Through our Bible College and surrounding Bible Schools, we have thousands of pastors and missionaries requesting your booklets.” Four different WMP distribution points have been established in Nigeria, one of which reaches into the northern states where insurgents have a strong presence. Persecution is a strong possibility and yet Christians are boldly evangelizing. Presently, two 40’ containers are in production, providing 3,354,340 booklets in 11 different languages. Marshal A., originally from Nigeria, found himself in prison in Thailand, serving a lengthy sentence for drug-related offenses. A friend from the U.S. sent him some Scripture booklets from World Missionary Press which touched his heart.
From his prison cell in Thailand, Marshal wrote, “Reading your booklets gives me hope and encouragement. I have also been making use of the Bible Reading Plan.” He expressed how grateful he would be to receive anything that could be of help to him and how glad he would be to also share booklets with his fellow inmates. “May God continue to empower World Missionary Press and help you to go further in reaching people who are perishing in sin. Thanks so much for all your efforts in my life and others through your booklets.” When Marshal’s letter was received at the WMP offices in the USA, it was then sent to WMP’s national coordinator in Thailand for handling. They gladly sent booklets to the prison for Marshal to study and share. What a demonstration of God’s mercy and grace—to get His message of salvation and hope to a needy soul! God saw Marshal in that prison and moved a friend to send him Scripture booklets from half-way around the world. The Word of God found fertile soil in his heart. His request for more of God’s Word traveled back to the USA and then back to Thailand, where booklets were available and could be sent to his location. Knowing that God has a plan for someone to read and receive His Word in each small booklet spurs us on to prepare the Scripture booklets for all who request them. We went on 21 missions in 6 counties impacting 59 villages and towns in 2 countries, Liberia and Ivory Coast. A mission can last 1-7 days. We did 2 three day conferences. Our projector was used 3 times showing the Jesus film and other Christian training films. We baptized 42 people. Many had the Gospel presented to them and many made confessions of faith asking our Lord for salvation and forgiveness. We printed 9,000 pages of Bible training material. We made 491 manuals.
We had 41 students in our level 1 class and several that listen in. They came from 9 counties which represent over 1/2 of the 16 Liberian counties. We also had students from three countries; Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Liberia. The students have returned to spread the Gospel as they were taught. Except for Nigeria, we will also be sending our field leaders to them throughout the year to assist them in producing fruit, to encourage, provide material, and continue to train. Exciting news! One of our students comes from an unreached people group of Liberia and is a former Muslim. He comes from the Vai tribe. Joshua Project considers the Vai to be an unreached people group. They are a Muslim mixed with animism stronghold. He is from Grand Capemont County, a county we have never sent a disciple to. He is determined to go back to them and share the gospel!! He and I have agreed that he should stay on our base for at least a month to attend level 4. While here for the month we will continue to train and prepare him. We plan on sending a mission team with him when he returns. Some of these Bible Institute students were unknown to us having been brought by our Lord. But most all of these students have come because our field leaders on motorbikes have made an impact on them while visiting their communities. We have been to 13 of the 16 counties evangelizing, discipling and working towards church plants. Our press shop wall structure should be complete this week. As I type this report our dental team is preparing to pull their first tooth. Exciting!!! Bad teeth bring much pain and even death. This is a huge blessing for the SE of Liberia where hundreds of thousands have had no access to a dentist. Prayer requests: We praise God for an anointed Level 1 class. Pray for our Bible Institute Level 4 class that starts on February 20th, each class lasts 2 weeks. Praise God our dental clinic is in operation. Pray that we can start distributing our water filters. Surely I broke a toe (no X-ray equipment) in a motorbike mishap. Pray for healing. The following testimony is from a brother in Nigeria.
“Thank you so much for diligently doing the work of Christ and for the love and kindness shown to God’s children. Thank you for determination to serve the Lord in your country and around the world, seeking for the lost and unsaved to get saved and matured through Christ. May the Lord comfort you and strengthen you to continue forwarding His ministry to the world. Beloved, some incredible evil things happened in my life that was to the point of stealing my life. But the Lord’s healing hand was upon me, and I was restored. I am grateful and my heart is filled with joy today. I am very glad to share my testimony with you. My family and I belonged to the Muslim Association of Nigeria. We were all accordingly in one body of Allah. We believed Allah was our god, and we worshiped him in the Islamic religion. We were against Christians. We spoke evil of them, and we hated them. One day, a believer came to our Islamic place where we prayed; and he was preaching the doctrine of Christ. We captured him and killed him; but we didn’t know we were wrong and the devil was ruling our lives, and we belonged to a false religion. So, after some days, I got attacked by a dreadful disease and became jaundiced. I was admitted into the best hospital with doctors working on me around the clock. I was given four bottles of blood and was on oxygen for six days. My pulse was disappearing, and my breathing was slowing. The pain in my entire body was unbearable. It was then the doctors gave up hope. The chief doctors said that I would have to be lifted immediately to Bombay for dialysis but that I may not survive the journey itself. My parents, brothers, and sisters were all nearly mad with sorrow. My father and his friends were consulting Islamic hymns to proclaim healing in my body. They tried and tried, but our gods failed them. It was then Brother "J", who was saved through your literature and ministry, came to see his sister in the same ward and he came to meet me for a purpose. My father was trying to abuse him, but my mother stopped him. He came towards me, and he was calling God’s anointing power of healing upon my life. Really, the Lord interceded and laid His hand of healing upon me; and I felt a move in my body. It was like a heat and the pains were vanishing. My blood was again tested for the last time, and it showed my liver and kidneys working beautifully, and I was completely whole. My family and the doctors were all surprised to see the demonstration of God’s power upon my life. From then on, my father realized that the gods we were worshiping were not true gods, and we got onto our knees and confessed Christ as our Lord and personal Savior. The Lord transformed our lives through the blood of the Lamb. He changed us from Islam to Christianity. We took our Muslim books, hymns, and bible and burnt them. We are now fellowshipping in Brother "J’s" church. Beloved, we are willing and anxious to study God’s Word so that we can grow stronger in our faith and be matured through Christ. We believe faith cometh by hearing and hearing from the Word of God. Please help us with 39 complete Holy Bibles to share among ourselves so that we can have the Word of God to grow and to know more about His Word. We want to become closer to God, and to receive the life He offers. Please, help me and my family with friends to grow rapidly in the Lord. Thank you for the love and concern shown to your African brethren.” Ayomide D. Nigeria |
